Congratulations Carrie! You are absolutely correct that there are responsible breeders out there. I hope you have many wonderful years with your “dream” Dachshunnd.

I just got into quite a heated debate with my father in law this morning over this very thing. He is one of those “all dog breeders run puppy mills” people. I highly disagree with him. Responsible breeders are in a completely different category than puppy mills. I’ve never gotten a puppy, but I have adopted many of my dogs as adults from responsible breeders once they have finished their show or breeding careers.

In fact, we are getting an adult dachshund in February this way and I am over the moon excited about her! I had a dachshund when I was a little girl and have wanted another one ever since (she passed away at age 17 when I was four years old. I’m now 45, so I’ve waited 41 years for my new sweet girl!) Your website has been an absolute wealth of fantatsic information and I wanted to thank you for that! It’s been a great refresher on training a doxie and all the best ways to handle the challenges they can sometimes be known for. Your blog and all you do to educate people on the lovable little wiener dog is much appreciated! 🙂
